Now that school has officially started, September is full of fun activities to celebrate Labor Day and the upcoming seasons. Check out what’s going on at your school:

Monday, September 7th: Labor Day
Mehlville will be closed today in observance of Labor Day. Have a safe and fun weekend!
Friday, September 18th: Eckert’s Apple Picking
The children will be going to Eckert’s Apple Orchard in Millstadt, Illinois to pick apples. The bus is scheduled to leave at 8:30 a.m. and return at 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided at the school after the children return.
The cost is $8.00 per child. If you wish you join in on the fun, the cost is $8.00 per five pound bag. Please remember to dress your child in tennis shoes and other appropriate clothing for picking apples.
Tuesday, September 22: School Pictures
School pictures will be taken today, so please make sure your child is dressed and prepared for pictures. Parents are welcome to send a change of clothes for their children to change into for pictures.

Thursday, September 3rd: School Pictures
School pictures will be taken today for all children and classrooms 1A through Kindergarten. Please dress your child appropriately for pictures and you are welcome to send a change of clothes for the pictures or for your child to change into afterwards.
Pictures will start at 8:30 a.m. and begin with infants. Please arrive by then so group pictures can be finished by 11:30 a.m. or noon. For more information, please refer to the information sheets that were sent home last week or flyers posted at the school.
Monday, September 7th: Labor Day
We will be closed today in observance of Labor Day. Have a fun, safe weekend!
Tuesday, September 8th: Official School Year Begins
School officially begins today! We are excited to see new and returning faces for a fun, exciting school year.
Wednesday, September 16th: Apple Picking at Eckert’s Farm
The four preschool rooms will be going apple picking at Eckert’s Farm in Millstadt, Illinois. Permission forms will be sent out this week to parents. Please sign and return all permission forms by Friday, September 12th.
For parents with children under three, please meet us at the farm if you want your child to participate. We will leave the school at 9:15 a.m. and the bus cannot wait, so please be on time. We will provide apple picking t-shirts for the children that they will be able to keep. Be sure to dress yourself and your child in tennis shoes.
Monday, September 28th through Friday, October 2nd: Grandparent’s Tea
We invite all grandparents or parents to join the children for tea and treats in their respective rooms. The dates are as follows and times are to be determined:
- Monday: Rooms 1A, 1B, and 1C
- Tuesday: Rooms 1D, 1E, and 1F
- Wednesday: Rooms 2A, 2B, and 2C
- Thursday: Rooms PK3 and PK4
- Friday: Rooms PK5 and Kindergarten

Tuesday, September 1st and Wednesday, September 2nd: School Pictures
Fall school pictures will be taken today and tomorrow. All students will be required to have their picture taken, but purchasing pictures is at the parent’s discretion. Proofs will be sent home 7-10 days after pictures are taken.
Parents are more than welcome to send their child a change of clothes for pictures. If your child doesn’t attend their scheduled picture day, they will have them taken on the next day. If they miss both, you can bring your child to the school to have their picture taken.
The schedule is as follows:
- Tuesday: Infants, Transition, Toddlers, and siblings
- Wednesday: Twos and Primary
Friday, September 4th: Grandparent’s Day
All grandparents or special guests are invited to join us for snack time at 10 a.m. in the child’s respective classroom. Snacks will be followed by story time read by the St. Louis Public Library at 10:30 a.m. in the atrium.

Wednesday, September 23rd: Apple Picking at Centennial Farms
The Primary classrooms will go apple picking today at Centennial Farms. The buses will be loaded and leave around 8:30 a.m. to return by 12:30 p.m. The children will spend the morning picking apples and eating a picnic lunch, which will be provided by the Centre.
If you wish to chaperone, sign-up sheets will be posted on classroom doors. Please remember to dress your child appropriately in tennis shoes.
