Happy Halloween! Now that fall is officially here, it’s time to start celebrating the season with some fun and games! Here’s what’s going on this month at your school:

Monday, October 5th through Friday, October 9th: Preschool Parent-Teacher Conferences


Parent-teacher conferences for preschool will be held this week. If you would like to meet your child’s teacher, please see the sign-up sheet on your child’s classroom door. If you do not sign up, you will not be able to meet with your child’s teacher.

Monday, October 5th: Red Cross Blood Drive

The Red Cross will be at the school today from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. If you are interested in making a donation, please register at the Red Cross. Thank you for donating!

Friday, October 9th: Pumpkin Patch Field Trip

The children will be going to Stuckmeyer’s Pumpkin Patch today. The bus will leave promptly at 9 a.m. and return to the school at noon. The cost is $8.00 for children and adults and includes:

  • Transportation
  • Hayride
  • A small pumpkin
  • Inflatable maze
  • Fort Spooky

If you want your child to attend, please turn in the permission slip as soon as possible. Parents are more than welcome to attend and help chaperone the children.

Friday, October 16th: Schoola Clothing Donations Due

Schoola will be at the school today to pick up donations to the clothing drive. Fill a bag with clothes that your family has outgrown, fill out the attached card so the school can get credit, and drop the bag off at the school office.

Please do not include:

  • Sleepwear
  • Underwear
  • Altered items
  • Items that are damaged or stained

40 percent of the proceeds from the sold clothing go to supporting the school. Thank you for your generosity in supporting not only your school, but the community!

Thursday, October 22nd: Potluck Dinner

Join us for the Annual Casa Dia Potluck Dinner from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Parents and staff will be able to share dinner together and get to know their child’s classmates and their parents. Each family is asked to bring a side dish or a dessert to share. The school will provide:

  • Meat
  • Bread
  • Beverages
  • Paper products
Friday, October 30th: Halloween Parade & Party

Boo! We will be hosting our annual Halloween parade and party today. Children may come to school in their costumes, but please send a change of clothes with them. Please remember that costumes with weapons or scary masks are not allowed.

The parade will begin at 10:30 p.m., and will be followed by parties in the classrooms from 11 a.m. to noon. If you wish to bring treats, there are sign-up sheets on each of the classroom doors. As usual, please bring store-bought treats without nuts only. We regret that we cannot accept homemade treats. Thank you for your cooperation!

Thursday, October 1st through October 2nd: Grandparents Tea

Grandparents will join their grandchild’s class for an hour and visit, learn about what goes on in the room and they will get to enjoy muffins and tea. The schedule will be as follows from 10 to 11 a.m.:

  • Thursday: PK3 and 4
  • Friday: PK5 and Kindergarten
Wednesday, October 21st: Pumpkin Picking at Stuckmeyers

Pre-K rooms 3, 4, and 5, and Kindergarten will be going on their annual pumpkin picking field trip to Stuckmeyers. We leave at 8:50 a.m. from Casa Dia and return around 12:30 p.m.

Parents are welcome to join as we tour the farm on a tractor ride, play, and choose a pumpkin. Please return your permission forms no later than October 16th. The cost of attendance is $12.00.

Friday, October 30th: Mr. Saxophone & Halloween Parties
  1. will be preforming for the toddlers and 2’s from 9 to 9:30 a.m., and for the Pre-K students from 9:30 through 10 a.m. Afterwards, we will have our Halloween parade and parties in the rooms.

Please look for information on your child’s room door about what items may be needed for the party. Please send your child in their costume that day and a change of clothes for them to change into after all the fun. Happy Halloween!

Wednesday, October 14th: Field Trip to Rombachs Farm & Parent-Child Afternoon

Today, we will be taking a field trip to Rombachs Farm Pumpkin Patch. We will leave the school at 8:30 a.m. and be back at the school by 12:30 pm. Sign-up sheets for parents and guests will be posted on classroom doors. Snacks and drinks will be provided by the center during the trip and lunch will be served back at school.

We will also host our parent-child afternoon today from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Parents will be able to visit their child’s classroom and experience the Montessori environment. Students will choose one or two lessons to show their parents so parents can see what their child has mastered and what the class has been working on as a whole.

Parent-Child Afternoon is not a time to conference with the teacher as they must remain available to host this event. Parent teacher conferences are scheduled for next month.

Friday, October 23rd: Trunk or Treat

This evening, we will be hosting Trunk or Treat at the center at 6p.m. During this event, parents who wish to participate can sign up at the front desk to decorate their trunk and hand out Halloween goodies to the children. Prizes will be awarded to the two best decorated trunks:

  • $100.00 off of weekly tuition for first place trunk
  • $50.00 off of weekly tuition for second place trunk

Both children and their parents are encouraged to wear costumes.

Friday, October 30: Halloween Celebration

Today, we will be celebrating our annual Halloween Celebration. Children will be able to come to school in their costumes and celebrate Halloween with their teachers and classmates.

Please make sure all costumes:

  • Are child friendly
  • Do not promote violence
  • Do not include any violent accessories that might accompany the costume
