Child Care

Each of our locations at North American Montessori provides different child care options and curriculums depending on the child’s age. Our Montessori environment encourages hands-on learning and helps children develop knowledge, skills, and friendships that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.

Infant Child Care

Infants are the youngest, most dependent children under our care and this stage is such a critical time for learning and growth. Our Infant daycare helps to create a peaceful, supportive, and safe environment for infants as young as 6 weeks old and up to 8 months old. Our daycare allows infants to explore the world around them while supporting social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.

Toddler Child Care

With a toddler’s natural curiosity and desire to learn, North American Montessori recognizes the importance of the toddler stage. Our toddler daycare provides the right environment for children ages 8-36 months old to safely explore, learn, and grow at their own pace. We take an individualized approach to educational child care and use developmentally-appropriate materials to enhance the learning experience.

North American Montessori Child Care FAQs

We appreciate that you are considering North American Montessori to serve your family’s needs and to play a part in their development. Please review the frequently asked questions and contact us if you find your question is not answered!

What ages are in the Infant Rooms?

Our Infant Rooms have children as young as six weeks old and up to about 8 months of age. They move out of the Infant Room when they show signs of becoming mobile — for example, when they begin rolling, crawling, and pulling to stand.

What ages are in the Toddler Rooms?

Our Toddler Rooms encompass children between 8 months and 36 months old. To avoid any collision accidents, younger toddlers who have just become mobile are separated from older children who are walking/running in what we call Transition Rooms. Every child develops at a different rate, but children typically move out of the Transition Room and into the Toddler Room at around 12 months — when they have only one nap per day, no longer use bottles, and are eating table foods.

How many teachers are in a room at any given time?

We have two teachers at all times in the Infant Rooms and Transition Rooms. For toddlers 12-24 months, we have a 1:4 teacher ratio with a maximum group size of 8 children. For children 24-36 months, we have a 1:8 teacher ratio with a maximum group size of 16.

What is in a Montessori curriculum?

Our daycare curriculum builds off of the basic branches of the Montessori Method, which include practical life, sensorial, language, mathematics, and cultural activities. A Montessori environment helps children explore and grow at their own pace and encourages children to be curious, lifelong learners.

Do you have cribs/pack & plays/cots for nap time or do we need to supply them?

We provide cribs and other age-appropriate spaces needed during your child’s nap times in the Infant and Toddler Rooms. We follow the Infant Safe Sleep Policy as outlined by the State of Missouri.

Are there regular mealtimes for Infants?

Although we encourage keeping infants on consistent schedules, meal times at this development stage can vary. We report on a regular basis to parents about meal times and any changes to their child’s feedings. We encourage parents to provide breast milk and/or formula for us to store for their child’s mealtimes.

Are meals for Toddlers provided? What are the mealtimes?

Yes, we provide healthy, balanced meals and snacks. Breakfast is typically at 8 a.m. and lunch typically begins at 11:00 a.m. We offer snacks around 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Do you accommodate food allergies?

Yes, our facilities can accommodate any food allergies children may have.

When can I take a tour?

Our schools have an open door policy and any parent wishing to tour one of our daycare centers needs only to arrive at the main office and we will be happy to show you around. However, we do encourage you to schedule an appointment to see the facility.

Tours are available:

  • 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at The Centre at Conway in Chesterfield
